The Cusco tourist ticket (boleto turístico) is the entrance pass that lets you visit several archaeological sites and museums in the region with a single payment. If you plan to see Sacsayhuamán, the Sacred Valley or the city museums, it almost always pays off. Here is how to choose the right one.
Which types of ticket exist
- Full ticket: about S/ 130, valid for 10 days. It includes the sites of all four circuits.
- Partial tickets: about S/ 70, valid for 1 or 2 days, for one specific circuit.
Prices and the list of sites can change: check the current price at the official office on the day you buy.
Which sites the circuits include
- Circuit I (Cusco city): Sacsayhuamán, Q’enqo, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay.
- Circuit II (museums and sites in the city): museums such as the Popular Art Museum, the Site Museum and the Contemporary Art Museum, and Qoricancha depending on the current scheme.
- Circuit III (Sacred Valley): Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Chinchero and Moray.
- Circuit IV (Southern Valley): Tipón, Pikillacta and Andahuaylillas.
It does not include Machu Picchu or the Maras Salt Mines (paid separately).
Full or partial? How to choose
- Full: if you will spend 4 days or more in Cusco and want to see the city, the Sacred Valley and a museum.
- Sacred Valley partial: if you will only do the Sacred Valley in one day. See what to see in the Sacred Valley in one day.
- Circuit I partial: if you will only visit Sacsayhuamán and nearby sites.
Do tours include it?
Usually not: most tours, including our Sacred Valley VIP, do not include the tourist ticket so each traveler can buy the one that suits them. Your guide will tell you which ticket you need before you set out.
Practical tips
- Bring your passport or a copy, and cash in soles.
- Students with a valid international card usually get a discount.
- The ticket is personal and non-transferable, and each site can be visited only once.
- Plan around the 10 days: the full ticket pays off most if you use it in one busy week.
