The route

What the experience is like

The Inca Trail 4 days by Condor Trek is the original route to Machu Picchu: 3 nights of camping, Dead Woman's Pass at 4,215 m and arrival through the Sun Gate at sunrise.

For four days you will walk the same path the chasquis of Tahuantinsuyo used, crossing high mountain passes, cloud forest and more than ten archaeological sites that can only be seen on foot. You will greet the last sunrise at Inti Punku, with Machu Picchu at your feet.

Frequently asked questions

Before you go

How far in advance should I book?

At least 10 days ahead, because we buy Machu Picchu tickets and trains in your name and availability is limited. From May to October we recommend booking one or two months ahead.

How hard is it?

It is a moderate to difficult hike. You don't need technical experience, but you do need good fitness and to acclimatize for at least two days in Cusco.

Is it open all year?

The Inca Trail closes every February for maintenance. The rest of the year it operates normally.

Can I change the date?

Permits are nominative and do not allow date or name changes. Check your passport details carefully when booking.
