On the Inca Trail the porters carry the camp and the food, but you carry your own day pack. The key is to bring what you need and nothing more: every gram counts on the mountain passes.
Documents
- Original passport (the same number you used to book the permit).
- ISIC student card, if you applied for a discount.
- Travel insurance and some cash in soles for tips.
Clothing
- Trekking shoes already broken in (never new).
- Waterproof jacket and rain poncho.
- One warm layer (fleece or down) for the nights.
- Two or three quick-dry shirts.
- Hat, gloves and sunglasses.
- Comfortable sleepwear and extra socks.
Equipment
- 25 to 35 liter backpack with a rain cover.
- Sleeping bag rated to -10 °C (you can rent one from us).
- Trekking poles with rubber tips (mandatory on the Inca Trail).
- Headlamp with spare batteries.
- 2 liter water bottle or hydration bladder.
