Home / Tours / Classic Inca Trail
4 days / 3 nights · 42 kmThe sacred route of the Incas: 42 km of stone, clouds and citadels up to the Sun Gate.
The Inca Trail 4 days by Condor Trek is the original route to Machu Picchu: 3 nights of camping, Dead Woman's Pass at 4,215 m and arrival through the Sun Gate at sunrise.
For four days you will walk the same path the chasquis of Tahuantinsuyo used, crossing high mountain passes, cloud forest and more than ten archaeological sites that can only be seen on foot. You will greet the last sunrise at Inti Punku, with Machu Picchu at your feet.
Inca Trail permits are personal and limited, which is why we ask you to book at least 30 days ahead. If you are looking for the classic Inca Trail in a small group or as a private service, send us your request without paying anything today: we confirm availability and arrange payment by email or WhatsApp. If you are unsure between this route and another, read Inca Trail vs Salkantay.
You reach the Sun Gate before the buses from Aguas Calientes.
Inca terraces hanging over the Urubamba river.
Porters, cook, 4-season tents and dining tent.
Maximum 12 travelers per guide, or private service.
Pick-up at 4:30 from your hotel and transfer to Ollantaytambo for breakfast. At Km 82 we pass the permit checkpoint and walk along the Urubamba river to Patallacta. Lunch in Hatunchaca and camp at Ayapata.
The most demanding day: climb to the Warmiwañusca pass, the highest point of the route. Descent to Pacaymayo, second pass at Runkurakay and a visit to Sayacmarca before reaching camp.
The most beautiful stretch: original stairways, Inca tunnels and views of the snow-capped peaks. We visit Phuyupatamarca, Intipata and Wiñay Wayna. Farewell dinner with the porter team.
We leave before sunrise toward the Sun Gate. Two-hour guided visit of Machu Picchu, bus to Aguas Calientes, train to Ollantaytambo and transfer to your hotel in Cusco.

At least 10 days ahead, because we buy Machu Picchu tickets and trains in your name and availability is limited. From May to October we recommend booking one or two months ahead.
It is a moderate to difficult hike. You don't need technical experience, but you do need good fitness and to acclimatize for at least two days in Cusco.
The Inca Trail closes every February for maintenance. The rest of the year it operates normally.
Permits are nominative and do not allow date or name changes. Check your passport details carefully when booking.
